(Clematis) Clematis ‘Jackmanii Superba’ is known to be an improved variety over ‘Jackmanii’, for its broader petals and deeper rich purple color when flowers first open. The large 5 inch flowers transition from deep purple to lighter violet with age. ‘Jackmanii Superba’ is an excellent cultivar that is very free flowering for later season color – blooming from midsummer to early fall. Growing over 10 feet tall, ‘Jackmanii Superba’ is an excellent choice for a trellis, fence or arbor. ‘Jackmanii Superba’ can also be used as a ground cover or grown to mingle through shrubs. Part of prune group 3, clematis ‘Jackmanii Superba’ can be trimmed back to the ground in the fall. Flower color may vary due to environment.
